About Us: Therapy for Elders Sexual Abuse Survivor

Our Journey and Mission

Founded in 2017, Therapy for Elders Sexual Abuse Survivor (TESAS) is a dedicated online resource centered around raising awareness, offering support, and providing therapeutic guidance for older adults who have experienced sexual abuse. We recognize that this sensitive topic often goes unaddressed, and our mission is to bridge the information gap and offer a safe space for healing.

Our Story

The idea for TESAS emerged from the belief that every individual, regardless of age, deserves access to accurate information and compassionate support after experiencing sexual abuse. We identified a critical need for specialized resources tailored to older survivors, as their unique challenges often go overlooked in mainstream discussions. With this vision, we set out to create a comprehensive platform to educate, empower, and heal.

Over the years, TESAS has achieved several milestones:

  • 2018: Launched our initial blog series, sharing personal stories of resilience and recovery.
  • 2019: Expanded our team and began collaborating with renowned therapists specializing in elder care.
  • 2020: Introduced our interactive forum, fostering a supportive community for survivors to connect.
  • 2022: Achieved over 500,000 page views, reaching and assisting thousands of survivors worldwide.

Purpose, Values, and Mission

Purpose: To provide unbiased, evidence-based information and support services that promote healing and improve the quality of life for older adults affected by sexual abuse.

Core Values:

  • Accuracy: We strive for excellence in our research and ensure all content is factually correct and up-to-date.
  • Empathy: Our team approaches each topic with compassion, understanding the sensitive nature of this issue.
  • Inclusivity: TESAS welcomes survivors from diverse backgrounds, offering relevant resources to all.
  • Transparency: We are open about our sources, methods, and collaborations, fostering trust.

Mission: To empower older adults who have experienced sexual abuse by offering accessible therapy, education, and a supportive community, enabling them to reclaim their lives and find solace.

Addressing the Information Gap

The internet, while a vast resource, often lacks comprehensive and reliable information specific to elder sexual abuse survivors. Many existing sites either focus on general mental health or target younger populations, leaving a significant gap in support for this vulnerable demographic. TESAS was created to fill this void, providing specialized content tailored to the unique needs of older survivors.

Unbiased Information and Reliability

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of journalistic integrity. Our content is carefully researched and fact-checked by our team of experts and volunteers with diverse backgrounds in psychology, social work, and journalism. We actively seek out studies, reports, and success stories from reputable sources to ensure the accuracy and relevance of our information.

Target Audience and Engagement

TESAS serves older adults (60+ years) who have experienced sexual abuse, as well as their caregivers, family members, and professionals in the healthcare and social work fields. Our target audience includes:

  • Survivors seeking understanding, resources, and healing strategies.
  • Caregivers looking for guidance on supporting a loved one through this trauma.
  • Professionals aiming to enhance their knowledge and improve patient care.

We encourage engagement through comments, feedback, and sharing personal stories (while maintaining confidentiality). Our interactive forum fosters a sense of community, allowing survivors to connect, support each other, and share valuable insights.
